Dear DuVall Families,
Thank you Mr. Estrada (Navy) and Mr. Vanderwaal (Army) for leading us in the Pledge of Allegiance on Monday to honor Veteran’s Day and all of our vets.
This week we are collecting non-perishable foods for the Battle of Hunger. Our donations will be part of Edsel Ford’s collection. All of the high schools compete to see who donates the most. We will have a competition at DuVall too. The class that collects the most will win a pizza party! The winning class must have at least 100 items. Please help your child’s class win.
Boys basketball try-outs are scheduled this week. We are still in need of a 5th grade boys coach. If you are interested please let me know ASAP. Many thanks to our volunteers that have stepped up: Johnny Borg, Michael Gonzalez, Rami Fakih, and Hussam Khodor. See the schedule below for days and times of try-outs.
This week’s notes:
- Chess Club is canceled this week.
- Running Club is canceled this week.
- We will have our monthly Parent Education Meeting on Thursday at 9:05. The topic is school safety. Our District Director of Health, Safety, and Security Danielle Elzayat will be joining us. Providing there are no calls, our new School Resource Office (SRO), Hannah Lemus will also be stopping by to introduce herself. For those that are unable to attend, the presentation will be shared. Those that attend will receive a Penguin Point for each of their children and a motivational bracelet. Coffee and donuts will also be served.
- Snow Elementary is looking for noon hour supervisors. If you or anyone you knows is interested apply as a Noon Hour Substitute at: https://www.applitrack.com/resa/OnlineApp/default.aspx?choosedistrict=true&applitrackclient=38448&category=Substitute
Notes worth repeating:
- Every parent is encouraged to get an iChat. They are valid for three years. You must fill out the form two weeks prior to volunteering. This is for the safety of our children. Please do not expect to fill one out and volunteer the same day.
- Please provide a change of clothes in your child’s backpack, especially grades K-2. Students often get wet on the playground or have an accident and need a change of clothes.
