DuVall Elementary School

Principal Bio

Dear DuVall families,

It is with great honor and excitement that I become  your principal this year. I look forward to welcoming all of students and families on the first day of school, August 30 at 9:00.  More information will be mailed soon. This is a special year because we will be celebrating DuVall’s 100th Anniversary and all of its many traditions and history.

My experience began 36 years ago at St. Christopher School in Detroit where I taught for 4 years. I then moved to Herman Elementary in Detroit for 7 years before coming to Dearborn Public Schools. I taught at Salina Elementary for 8 years and Geer Park Elementary for 15 before becoming the Assistant Principal at Henry Ford Elementary last year. During my teaching years, I served as a classroom and enrichment teacher in all grades K-8, and as an instructional coach.

Some personal background, I am a proud graduate of Fordson High School and received my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Eastern Michigan. A few years ago I decided to return to school to obtain an Administrator’s Certificate, which I completed at Lamar University. My husband, Don, and I have been married for 32 years. He is the Facilities Manager at St. Frances Cabrini in Allen Park. We have two children who both graduated from Edsel Ford High School. Megan is now an ELA teacher at O.L. Smith and Benjamin works for the U.S. Senate.

During the course of the year, I will work together with you and our staff to provide the students of DuVall the best education possible and a healthy, safe environment.  My goal is to provide an environment where everyone feels welcome and is happy to come to everyday.  My door is always open and I welcome your input.

I look forward to a wonderful year and working with you and your child.
