DuVall Elementary School

Week of November 4-8, 2024

Dear DuVall Families,

5th Grade Parents & Students: We need to fill the 12:00-2:00 time slot for working Tuesday’s bake sale.  At least one parent one more 5th grader is needed for this time.  If it is not filled the sale will have to be closed during this time. Since this is lunchtime this could be a busy time. Sign-up at: https://m.signupgenius.com/#!/showSignUp/8050F4FA5A623A4FE3-52367736-5thgrade

Many thanks to every parent and family members that donated, volunteered, and decorated cars for our Trunk or Treat. Our PTA and everyone involved helped to make wonderful memories for each of our students.

Robotics begins on Thursday. Applications are closed and no longer will be accepted.

Doodle Club will now be held every Friday. This Club will meet through December 13 and then resume sometime after the first of the year. Many thanks to Mrs. Gonzalez who runs this club.

Congratulations Ms. Rafferty and all of DuVall for receiving a Disney Broadway Junior Grant! Our students will be bringing Disney to life on our very own stage later this year. Mrs. Moon will be working with Ms. Rafferty in this exciting production.

This week’s notes:

  • There is no school for students on Tuesday.
  • Wednesday, 6:30 PTA Meeting, Media Center or Zoom (Meeting ID: 842 5773 7447, Passcode: 650400)
  • More information on the SAEBRS assessment on SEL that was included in last week’s email. The district has extended the deadline for teachers to complete the assessment to December 15. Parents will be notified if their child is measured in Tier 2 or Tier 3. No notification will be made if your child is in Tier 1.
  • If you vote at DuVall, our 5th graders will be hosting a bake sale. The money they earn will help pay for their trip to the water park and their gathering after their promotion ceremony. Please support them if you can.
  • Battle Against Hunger! The fundraiser will be taking place Nov. 18-22.  All donations and proceeds will be going to Zaman International and The Amity Foundation. This is also a contest of our three feeders going against one another. Let’s support our Edsel Ford feeder!
  • Morning Clubs: Students should not arrive more than a couple of minutes before 8:00. Our office opens at 8:00 and sometimes there is someone in the office before 8:00 but not always. If there is not then no one will be here to let your children in the building.
  • Conferences will be held November 12 (2:35-8:30) and November 14 (4:05-7:00).
  • Every parent is encouraged to get an iChat. They are valid for three years. You must fill out the form two weeks prior to volunteering. This is for the safety of our children. Please do not expect to fill one out and volunteer the same day.
  • Mrs. Moon will be at a meeting on Monday but will return to school for DuVall Depot on Monday.
  • Parents must enter and exit through door 1 and sign in and out at the office. It is for safety reasons that we must know who is in the building at all times. Please do not come in door 8 with the students first thing in the morning.

Notes worth repeating:

  • Yearbooks will be $13. this year. I will provide the link once I have it so you can order online.
  • Our Lost & Found is overflowing. If you are missing anything please stop by and take a look. Remember to write your child’s names on everything.
  • I encourage you to review the weekly schedule at the bottom of every weekly email. Listed are clubs for the week, safety drills, school events, early release, early dismissals, etc.
