Dear DuVall Families,
Our annual Care to the Core is Wednesday! Every school focuses on activities that promote character values, mental health, anti-bullying, etc. DuVall will focus on our 7 Positive Penguin Practices by making chain links with student writing where they explain what each practice is and how they can be an example for each of them. At 8:30 Wednesday morning the district will kickoff the day with a live broadcast. Our own Leo the Penguin will be part of this kickoff. Many thanks to Mrs. Press for being our Leo at this event. You can view the kickoff at: district’s YouTube channel October is also National Bullying Prevention Month.
Thank you Mrs. Peterson for your generous donation to our playground cameras. The new quote came in that included the second camera. The total increased by $270., for a total of $2121. Our PTA approved the purchase of these cameras at last week’s meeting.
This week’s notes:
- Our Halloween Dance is October 18, 6:00-8:00pm. The cost is $15. per family. All are invited. To volunteer or donate, go to our Sign-Up Genius at: Halloween Dance. To view the flier go to: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1cJUP4iUFliQ5hMVRiG1A3H-uQQqenEXd/view?usp=sharing
- During school on Thursday, October 31 we will have our annual Trunk or Treat outside on the playground. Students not participating will be supervised inside the school and be given non Halloween options. Our PTA will be sending out more information in a week or so. We will be asking for parents to decorate cars and hand out candy so if you are interested start thinking about how you will decorate your car.
- If you are interested in being on the district Book Reconsideration committee, please click on this link: https://firstbell.dearbornschools.org/2024/10/09/volunteers-sought-for-possible-book-reconsideration-committees/
- 4th and 5th Grade Parents, if your child qualified for the Cipriano Run and plans on running in the race, please return the permission slip and the $5.00 fee to Mr. Tapp.
- Picture Retakes will be November 19.
- Please send in snack with your child daily. We are running very low with what we have in the office. The snack should be a vegetable, fruit, cracker, pretzel, or something else that is on the healthy side. Potato chips, cookie, candy, and Veggie straws are not healthy.
- PLEASE do not park illegally, especially on Fridays, especially in front of our neighbors trash cans. Some neighbors are not getting their trash and recyclables picked up because of parents parking in front of their cans. We receive calls in the office weekly and getting our trash picked up is something we all depend on.
