Dear DuVall Families,
Eid Mubarek! To observe this holiday there is no school Tuesday and Wednesday this week.
April 8th is the eclipse. We have purchased glasses for everyone to go outside and view the eclipse. The district is requiring a permission slip. This will go home Tuesday. Without one students may not go outside while we watch the eclipse.
Summer School: DuVall will have Summer Discovery Camp. The calendar of days is listed below. Each week will have a minimum of three days of instruction. The day will begin at 8:00 and end at 2:30 with an optional childcare going until 4:00. Breakfast and lunch will be provided. Transportation will be provided if you receive bussing during the school year. All students riding the bus must end their day at 2:30 or be picked up from school. An application will go home early next week. Contact with questions you may. This week’s notes:
- Edsel Ford’s Theater Department will present its spring musical, You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown! on April 11, 12, 19 and 20 at 7 p.m. each night. Tickets are available online. General admission is $12 and students and seniors 65 or older are $10 each. At least two DuVall alumni are in this show.
- 2024 Martian Marathon – 12:00 pm ~ April 13, 2024 @ Ford Field, Dearborn Group Registration Instructions: LINK: https://runningfitevents.redpodium.com/2024-martian-invasion-of-races Select “I am here to register as a group participant” TEAM NAME: DuVall – Blue Wave 12:00 TEAM PASSWORD: PENGUINS24 Continue on with registration. - Family Kickball, May 11th , 2024 @ 1:00pm at Summer Stephens Park (The baseball field) Cost: $ 5.00 per person, includes a halal hotdog, beverage, abag of chips and cookies. This event is for the families of Kindergarteners, 1st graders and 2nd graders. The DuVall PTA hosts 2 kickball events a year, 3rd -5th graders was at the beginning of the year. - Dearborn Public Schools’ Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP) will start distributing applications on Friday, April 19, 2024 for the 2024-25 school year. This is a free program. To be eligible, children need to turn four years old by Dec. 1, 2024. Preference will be given to students who will be four by Sept. 1, 2024 because those students will qualify for kindergarten the following year. However, if space is available, the program also will accept students with birthdays between Sept. 1 and Dec. 1. DuVall has one GSRP classroom but the applications are not available at DuVall and must be picked up at the following schools: Friday, April 19, from 9 to 11 a.m. Cotter, Becker, Henry Ford, William Ford, Long, McDonald, Oakman, River Oaks, and Whitmore Bolles. Applications can be picked up between 8:15 and 10:15 a.m. that day at Lowrey, McCollough/Unis and Salina Elementary. After April 19, applications can be picked up at Cotter Early Childhood Center, 13020 Osborn St., Dearborn. Appointments can also be made by calling the school office at 313-827-6150. - Students can still purchase Ambassador coupon books by coming to the office. The cost is $7.00 or 2 for $10.00. Coupons include $1.00 off at the school store, free popcorn, extra recess, no homework, bring a stuffy to school, and more! Money raised goes toward our Ga-Ga Ball Pit.
