DuVall Elementary School

Week of January 8-12

Dear DuVall Families.

I hope everyone had wonderful, restful, and enjoyable winter break. I would like to wish all our school families a joyous New Year filled with endless opportunities for growth and success! May this year bring all of you abundant happiness, good health, and prosperity. Let’s move forward on this new journey together, nurturing aspirations and creating wonderful memories as partners in your child’s education.

I would like to thank everyone who recognized me and our staff with a gift, card, or greeting. We are so lucky to be in such a wonderful community. The wonderful notes and cards will especially be treasured for many years. Your generosity is overwhelming. THANK YOU!!

Many thanks to Ms. Rafferty for a wonderful Sing Along! Our students are so incredibly talented. Also, a big thank you to all of the parents who helped put away the chairs. Once again you are role models for our students, showing them how a community comes together to help. One last thank you, to Santa for making a visit during our Sing Along!

This week’s notes:

  • Art Club is canceled this Monday. It will resume on January 22nd.
  • Math Club is canceled on Tuesday this week.
  • Mrs. Morrison’s tutoring is canceled on Tuesday this week.
  • No School, Monday, January 15th to recognize Dr. Martin Luther King Day.
  • We have a PTA meeting on Wednesday. Please try and join us in the Media Center or on Zoom. This is a wonderful group that volunteers their time for all of our students. We could use more help. Many hands make things easier.
  • Our Parent Book Club beginning in January. We will meet on the second Wednesday of every month, for four months. Parents will be given the book, No-Drama Discipline by Daniel Siegel and Tina Bryson. We will cover one to two chapters each month. Our first meeting is this week at 9:10 in the cafeteria. If you are not able to meet in the morning but are interested in the book let me know, I have extra copies.
  • At this point we will not have book fairs next year. We need someone to volunteer to handle this event. It would involve being in contact with Scholastic or scheduling and ordering, set up and take down of the fair (time to do this can be before, during, or after school) and helping to set hours of the fair based on volunteers. We currently have two fairs a year. Joyce Dunlap could give you more information.
  • The Mobile Dentist will be here on February 21st. More information will follow.
  • The district is collecting instruments. If you have an old instrument just sitting in your closet, think about donating it to our schools. Click here to view the flier.
  • We are still in need of noon hour supervisors. If you are interested, please contact the office for more information.
  • We have just over 33% of our parents that completed the survey. The deadline has been extended to January 12. If you have a chance, please complete it if you haven’t already done so. Thank you  Parent/Family Survey Link.
  • Please remember to follow ALL traffic rules.
  • We need one more person to help with popcorn on Friday. Please sign up at https://www.signupgenius.com/go/5080A4AABAE22A46-duvall#/

Have a great week!
