Dear DuVall Families,
Welcome back! The staff and I are so excited to welcome all of our students and parents to the 2022-2023 school year. The teachers have been coming in on their own time to make sure everything is ready for their kids. We have missed everyone and can’t wait to be back.
A lot happened at DuVall during the summer. We had a very successful summer school program, our playground has grass and some new pavement, and the front tree has been removed. The tree removal was necessary because it was causing a great deal of issues with our plumbing.
This coming year you will see workers at our building. Every worker must pass a thorough background check before being allowed to work at our school. These workers will be here all year working on our infrastructure. Every classroom will have new ceilings and lighting and as a school we are getting new boilers and air conditioning. We are beyond excited for the AC. I will be providing more information as time goes on. I will also address this issue at our first PTA meeting on September 14th at 6:30 in the Media Center and on Zoom.
- Weather permitting, our backdrop and back to school props will available outside for picture taking on Monday before school.
- DuVall is adding a GSRP Preschool this year. They will begin classes on September 21. Welcome Mrs. Manwell who has been a GSRP teacher for many years for Dearborn and is joining us at DuVall. Previously, if we had students attending GSRP they went to Whitmore Bolles, Cotter or other schools across the district. We are excited they can start their school career at DuVall.
- DuVall is a scent-free building. Please do not allow your child to wear perfume or cologne or use products with a strong scent.
- Just like last year, students are instructed not to let anyone in through the outside doors. This includes not letting in staff members and parents, even their own parent. Please do not ask students to let you in. It puts them in a very difficult situation. All parents are asked to ring the bell and enter through the front door. If our office staff can’t see your face they will ask how they can help you. Please just talk near the speaker and identify yourself.
- We have programs left from last year’s 100th anniversary. There is a lot of DuVall history included in this book. If you are a new family or you never received on please stop by and take one from the lobby.
- Tentative Calendar of Events: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1an5VGK7oD7wYp6Ey6qbLnrrzsizwbmO5tUA89dYq4u4/edit?usp=sharing
- I will be adding a couple of parent information meetings to the above calendar. One will be on school safety and the other on the Read By 3rd Grade Law.
- Open House, September 8th, 6:00-7:30
- All students arriving after classes have entered the building must enter through door 1 at the front of school. Parents must accompany them and sign them in.
