Dear DuVall Families,
Congratulations to our DuVall Penguins basketball teams and coaches. Both our JV and Varsity won their games Friday night! I was very proud, not only at their playing but their sportsmanship. Our players even helped the other players up when they fell. Great job boys!
Our Sing Along dates are Monday, December 16th at 3:00 for our K-2 students and Wednesday, December 18th at 3:00 for our 3rd-5th students. When you come please take a look at our students’ art work that is displayed in the halls near the gym.
Absenteeism is on the rise. Last year a quarter of our students were categorized as being chronically absent. This week our district posted an article on absenteeism. It can be found at: https://firstbell.dearbornschools.org/2024/12/09/good-attendance-improves-academic-outcomes/ I highly recommend that you take the tie to read it. Within the article is another link discussing The In Class is Where It’s At campaign by Wayne RESA. There is a lot of great information that can be found here, including parent resources, strategies to help improve your child’s attendance, and health tips on sleep.
Parents, if you are picking your child up early please notify the office and the teacher by 9:00. This way the teacher has a heads up and can prepare ahead of time. Last minute calls cause an interruption for the entire class and learning time is taken away. It is our preference that no child be picked up early between 3:30-3:55.

- Penguin Players is canceled this week.
- Running Club is canceled this week.
- This week robotics will be held on Wednesday after school instead of Thursday.
- We are still collecting new and gently used scarves, hats, and gloves for those in need. There is a box in the lobby.

- PLEASE, put a change of clothes in your child’s backpack, especially grades K-2.
