Dear DuVall Families,
Thank you to Mrs. Dunlap and Mr. Majed who both made substantial donations towards our camera purchase for the playground. It has been determined that due to the size of our playground two cameras will be needed. I was told it will not be double the original amount but I am still waiting on the quote. I will keep you posted.
Many thanks to everyone who came out to walk in the Edsel Ford Homecoming Parade. It was a lot of fun and the weather was perfect. Thank you to everyone who helped out at the book fair this week, especially Mrs. Kuehn and Ms. Grombelski. Thank you Mrs. Schuchert for organizing our Family Kickball game. Thank you to everyone who volunteered, attended, and/or donated. We are so lucky to have the community we have, where everyone supports and helps one another.
It is not too late to join our PTA. Memberships forms are in the office. You can also call the office to have one sent home with your child. We have a PTA meeting on Wednesday. I promise it will be shorter than the first one. Please try to attend in person or on Zoom. https://dearbornschools-org.zoom.us/j/84257737447?pwd=Ywxy4mMMsRoyLEKnUAKQtkZWaw2ddU.1 Meeting ID: 842 5773 7447 Passcode: 650400 We will be talking about upcoming events, security, and other school happenings.
I am sad that our 4th and 5th grade trip to Lansing has been canceled. The cancellation is due to a lack of interest by students and parents. As you know, 4th and 5th grade camp was canceled this year for the same reason. Big trips like these make a lasting memory for students and provide so much education and build friendships. As other trips come up please consider allowing your child to attend. Class field trips within the school day are part of the curriculum and every student should attend. Students not attending simply because they don’t want to is unacceptable.
This week’s notes:
- Parents, please model respectful behavior when we say the Pledge in the morning. I ask that you participate and refrain from speaking with teachers at this time.
- Edsel Ford”s Key Club is hosting a Trunk or Treat on October 20, 5:00-7:00. They are collecting donations for UNICEF to assist in child development in less fortunate countries. Click here to view their flier: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1IlaXp1ipqbIOBRI-G-GyJLha6-5BYyzo/view?usp=sharing
- Wednesday is Walk ‘N Roll Day! We are asking, whoever is able, to walk or ride their bikes to school on Wednesday.
- The Cipriano Run is November 5th. Our 4th and 5th graders will be testing on Tuesday to see if they can qualify. If your child is interested make sure they rest up the night before.
- Clubs: Students with excessive absences will be dropped from a club because many clubs have waitlists. Also, if a club meets after school, a student will be dropped if they are picked up late on a consistent basis and someone will be taken from the waitlist.
