DuVall Elementary School

Week of August 26-30

Dear DuVall Families,

Welcome back to a new school year! The staff nd I are so excited to welcome back our students and families on Monday. Every Sunday expect to receive an email from me outlining the next week and providing school information. It is important to carefully rad these email so you will stayed informed of DuVall happenings. The email will also be posted on the blog and you will receive a text with a link to the email. If you are not receiving an email and text please contact our office so your contact information can be updated.

Every year I select a theme for our school. My first two years it was only for staff but last year we included our students. This year our theme is marigolds. Marigold is a flower that is planted near other plants to help them grow, protect and nurture theme. I will be visiting classrooms this week to review our school rules, procedures, and to explain our theme. Students can be marigolds for each other as well as teachers, staff, and parents.

Welcome Mrs. Adrien Brown! Mrs. Brown is our new second teacher, replacing Mrs. Shapas Brettschneider.

Many thanks to our engineer Dave Brice, custodians Carol Kelley, Bev Kraft, ad Jeta Kamberovska for all of their help with Open House. Jeta’s last day was Friday and she has begun enjoying her retirement. Thank you also to our office Jennifer Schulte and Bobbie Cagle, all of our teachers, and everyone who was able to attend. A huge thank you to our PTA for providing popsicles, selling spiritwear, and providing membership information. Many, many thanks to our wonderful Watch D.O.G.S. Bob & Grace Ryan for working our Watch D.O.G.S. table. We will host a Watch D.O.G.S. sign-up and Pizza Night on Wednesday, September 18th, 6:00-7:00.

Please read this week’s notes carefully:

  • Kids Club will begin on Tuesday.
  • A change to the opening letter you received: SMART watches may not be worn in class. If a student wears one to school they will be asked to put it in their backpack. It is best not to wear it at all. DuVall will not be responsible for them. You may contact me if you would like the reasons for this decision.
  • Please share beginning of the year pictures you take or took at Open House. Our DuVall backdrop and props will be outside before the bell on Monday. Come early and take pictures as your child begins a new year.
  • Reminders: Please put a change of clothes in your child’s backpack, especially for graded K-2. Please put your child’s name on the outside of their lunchbox. Please put your child’s name on his/her water bottle, backpack, jackets, sweatshirts, etc.
  • Please make sure to always scroll to the end of the weekly email and to add dates on your calendars.
  • There is no school on Friday or next Monday in observance of Labor Day.
  • Our PTA will have a membership table set up outside on Monday so families can join. See the flier below.
