Dear DuVall Families,
Thank you to our wonderful PTA for running the Game Night event last weekend. Everyone had a wonderful time! We couldn’t have these events without parents that donate and volunteer. If you haven’t volunteered for any events this year, please consider signing up to help with the Ice Cream Social. We will need lots of hands for this event.
Many thanks to Mrs. Rafferty for organizing the talent show. Once again, she did a fabulous job! Thank you to Mrs. Ross, Ms. Stupar, Mrs. Press, Mrs. Moon, Mrs. Morrison, Mrs. Courtright, and Mrs. Rafferty for performing and thank you to Mr. Deller, Rosie, and Mr. Zitkovic for being our stage crew. Also, a huge thank you to all of the parents and friends that help put the chairs away. This was a huge help and once again you were role models for your children.
PLEASE, if your child will be attending summer school sign up soon. Our staff will be determined by the number of students we have. You may register until May 10 but the sooner we know the more helpful it is for us. Call the office or stop by if you need to register your children.
Current 3rd and 4th grade students, please return the camp letter if you are going or not. We have 16 parents/kids who have said yes to going to camp for next fall. We need 45 to go. Yes/no permission slips are due by Wednesday, May 1.

- GSRP (Great Start Readiness Program) Preschool applications for 2024-2025 are available at DuVall. If your child will be 4 before December 1, 2024 he/she is eligible. This free program runs Monday thru Thursday, 8:35-3:20 during the school year. DuVall has one classroom with 16 students. There are other classrooms at nearby schools as well. If you are interested stop by the DuVall office for an application and to schedule a registration date and time. You can also call Cotter at 313-827-6150 to ask any questions you may have.
- Our PTA is selling Little Caesar pizza kits. Little Caesars Pizza Kits are fun to make and delicious to eat! You’ll want them on hand for quick dinners, tasty snacks, birthday parties or entertaining! - Students must be fever free for 24 hours, without the help of medication to return to school.
- Wednesday May 8th is Ride and Roll to school day. If possible please have your child ride a bike to school on that date. If parent/guardian also have a bike it could be a fun opportunity to ride together.
- Thursday May 23rd will be Field Day at Summer Stephens Park. Permission slips will be going home in early May for this event. We are looking for parent helpers to run stations from 9:15-10:45 or from 2:00-3:15 (both if possible). Thank you in advance for your support.
- Butterfly & Garden pick up will be from the playground.
- Tuesday is the last day for Math Club this year.
- School Lunch Hero Day is Friday. Many thanks to Mrs. Joyce, Mrs. Drogowski, Mrs. Opalka, Mrs. Hillary, and Mrs. Susan for all that they do for DuVall!
Important Notes Repeated:
- If you know of high school seniors that attended DuVall, we will be inviting them to lead our fifth graders in the clap-out on June 7 that precedes their promotion ceremony. Please help spread the word.
- Family Kickball, May 11, 2024 @ 1:00pm at Summer Stephens Park (The baseball field) Cost: $ 5.00 per person, includes a halal hotdog, beverage, a bag of chips and cookies. This event is for the families of Kindergarteners, 1st graders and 2nd graders. The DuVall PTA hosts 2 kickball events a year, the 3rd-5th game was at the beginning of the year. - Students can still purchase Ambassador coupon books by coming to the office. The cost is $7.00 or 2 for $10.00. Coupons include $1.00 off at the school store, free popcorn, extra recess, no homework, bring a stuffy to school, and more! Money raised goes toward our Ga-Ga Ball Pit.
- Our Ice Cream Social will be here before you know it! We are requesting donations to help cut our costs and create more profits. Please click on this Sign-Up Genius link to donate items. - Teachers should have been asking for items or monetary donations to complete their class basket for Ice Cream Social. PLEASE support them with this request, if you are able. Teachers often support whatever part of the basket the class doesn’t donate for. It is easier for 20 students to each donate one item or a small donation then it is for one person to create the entire basket.
- May 6-10 is Teacher Appreciation Week. Our PTA always does a great job showing our teachers how much they are loved and appreciated. If you would like to help them out with supplying an item or two, a sign-up will be provided soon.
