You can drop them in the office or come in and write the note using the note cards we have. Every student will also receive a note from a staff member. Please complete your notes by Monday, April 15. We also have notes that parents of all grades can write to their children anytime during the year.

This week’s notes:

  • Monday will be Red Wings Day. I was asked by a student to have a day dedicated to the Wings. They play the Tampa Bay Lightning Monday evening. Students are asked to wear Red Wings or Red and white.
  • Friday is Opening Day in Detroit for the Tigers. Students are asked to wear Tigers or blue and orange.
  • April 8th is the eclipse. We have purchased glasses for everyone to go outside and view the eclipse. The district is requiring a permission slip. This will go home Tuesday. Without one students may not go outside while we watch the eclipse.
  • Students can still purchase Ambassador coupon books by coming to the office. The cost is $7.00 or 2 for $10.00. Coupons include $1.00 off at the school store, free popcorn, extra recess, no homework, bring a stuffy to school, and more! Money raised goes toward our Ga-Ga Ball Pit.
  • Our Change Challenge is April 2-5. A note explaining how it works will be sent home. Money raised will be split between Zaman International and our Ga-Ga Ball Pit funding. We are also competing against Geer Park to see who can raise the most.
  • We have currently raised $1,236.00 towards the Ga-Ga Ball Pit. We are still still deciding on the exact one that would work best for us but it will run around $2,500.
  • At the end of the week everything in our Lost and Found will be donated. Please stop by this week and take a look to see if your child has anything in there. There are boots, coats, sweatshirts, lunchboxes, water bottles, and more.

Important Notes that need to be Repeated:

  • We will have a Clean-Up Parade on May 22 in the afternoon. These are no longer held in the street. Our students will walk around the block on the sidewalk like we do for Halloween.
  • Just a reminder, if you are not receiving text messages, please call the office and let them know so they can fix this issue. 313-827-2750
  • Our Holiday Shop letter was sent home last week with more detailed information. We need volunteers and would love if parents could help their own child’s class when they shop. This should only take about 30 minutes. Here are link to donate bags and to volunteer. https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C084DACAE28A7F8C61-45727403-holiday https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/2I2PKN5CM0RZG?ref_=wl_share
  • Once again we have been given the Evergreen status as a Green School. Thank you Mrs. Hughes, Ms. Stupar, Ms. Mendez, and our Green Club.
  • We have some very active Fifth Grade parents. As they move to middle school with their children they leave positions open within our PTA. We need a Membership Chairperson. This position requires you to type information into a document, primarily during the first month of school. Usually this person will work at the PTA table during Open House. There is time for this parent to visit the rooms his/her child(ren) will be in as well. We also need an Assembly Chair. This position requires the booking of assemblies for our students. We receive lots of emails with assembly possibilities so you do not need to start from scratch. If you are interested in either of these positions please let me know or talk to Jaclyn Noles, who is usually on the playground before and after school.
  • Our Ice Cream Social will be here before you know it! We are requesting donations to help cut our costs and create more profits. Please click on this Sign-Up Genius link to donate items. If you have items that will not expire before May 31 we are happy to store them so you can drop them off anytime. https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C084DACAE28A7F8C61-47224485-icecream
