Shamrock Shuffle

Good afternoon!

It’s not too late to sign up for the Shamrock Shuffle this Saturday, March 2 at 10 am at Summer Stephens Park!  You can also still raise additional funds to earn some of the cool prizes and chances to win the Nintendo Switch we are raffling off!

Mrs. Timpf ordered awesome Shamrock Shuffle Brag Tags which will be given to each and every participant along with tattoos and cookies.  We also still have additional limited quantity/size extra  Irish Leo the Penguin T-shirts which are going to be a highly coveted fashion item at school and the limited edition Irish Leo water bottles turned out great!

Turn in entry sheets by Tomorrow, March 1, but late entries are also welcome- just arrive by 9:40 to Summer Stephens if you haven’t registered to pay and sign up!

We also wanted to give some additional information for the Shamrock Shuffle.  Run will happen rain or shine!  There is no running water yet at Summer Stephens Park so please use the bathroom before you come!

Please arrive by 9:50 am.

The T-shirts will be distributed at school Friday for those who registered and earned one through fundraising, and it is up to you whether you want to wear the white  T-shirt for the run and get it blasted with color or not. The manufacturer of the color powder says that that powder is totally washable, and it is also food grade, and non-toxic (made from corn starch).  But of course we have all probably had experience with washable paint and markers that didn’t come out 100% without some effort- don’t  wear anything that you would be devastated to get a stain on!  If you would like to wear your T-shirt for the run and preserve the rainbow colors, you can also do that too (you can find instructions online if interested).

Although the color powder is non-toxic, your runner may wish to wear a mask or bandana when they get blasted to keep from accidentally inhaling the powder.

Shuffle will begin at 10:00 am with a fun group  warm-up to music led by our running club sponsor teacher Ms. Press!  The warm-up will last 5 to 10 minutes, and then we will take a group photo and line up to begin the race.

The race is 4 times around the track (approximately 1 mile) and meant to be fun and no pressure. Walking is ok, too!  We are hoping to have many volunteers to cheer the kids as they run! And at each lap there will be a color blast.  Dixie cups of color will be available for purchase at the event for a $5 PTA donations if you would like to blast your child with additional color bombs as they run!

Photos may also be taken at our rainbow finish line where we will be handing out waters and shamrock cookies.  Costume winners will be announced with prizes awarded at the rainbow finish line as well!!  We will have a best costume prize and a best family/sibling group costume prize, so wear that crazy St Patrick’s gear and let the shenanigans begin!

The drawing for the Nintendo Switch will be done by Mrs. Timpf in the office Monday and announced.  The pizza party for those who earned that will also be scheduled in the next couple of weeks.

We are looking forward to a great event and weather is looking good!  Thank you all for your support and participation at this great event for our school!
