Week of October 31-November 4

Dear DuVall Families,

Thank you everyone who helped with Friday’s Halloween celebration. Our students had a wonderful time and so did the staff and parents. Your generosity, hard work, dedication and creativity surpassed all expectations. DuVall is lucky to have all of you!

Many thanks to Mr. & Mrs. Placido, Mr. Zitkovic and Ms. Gorosh for being our first Watch DOGS last week. If you are interested in being a Watch DOG and haven’t signed up yet please stop by school and view our schedule to sign-up. Half days are also appreciated!

Many thanks to Mr. Omayan for his generous donation to our school. It is very much appreciated.

Our Positive Penguin Practice for November is gratitude. Students will continue to learn about kindness and responsibility and will now add gratitude. We have so much to be thankful for! We are asking that students show their gratitude for what they have by helping others. Our three Dearborn High Schools participate in Battle Against Hunger every year. The feeder schools are asked to join in as well so DuVall will be participating. Through the first two weeks of November we will be collecting non-perishable foods to help Edsel Ford win the Battle Against Hunger, but more importantly it will help the Zaman Foundation which helps local families in need.

Notes for this week:

• The weather is cooling off. We go outside for recess if the wind chill is above 20 degrees. Please dress your child appropriately.
• Our traffic flow has improved. Please remember all drop-offs and pick-ups are on Francis. Mr. Wilson will be returning next week.
• Field trips are part of the curriculum. Students learn many things are these trips and also build relationships with their teacher and classmates. We encourage every student to attend their class trips.
