DuVall Elementary School

Week of October 10-14

Dear DuVall Families,

I would like to thank everyone of you for your support, patience, and understanding during last Thursday’s soft lockdown. Everything went smoothly. I will be discussing this in more detail at Wednesday’s PTA Meeting. Next time we will add robocall to our method of parent communication.

Earlier this year Mr. Placido approached me about the Watch D.O.G.S. program. Our PTA voted to purchase the start-up kit for us and Mr. Placido has agreed to be the coordinator. Watch DOGS is a school program that encourages dads to sign up for a day or two during the year to spend at school. DOGS stands for Dads Of Great Students. We will be adapting this program to include moms and guardians. The main purpose is to have an extra set of eyes at school. Parents will have some time to walk the school, time in their child’s classrooms and will help at recess. We will have our informational meeting in the cafeteria on Monday, October 17 at 6:00. Your children will be bringing home a letter that explains the program in a little more detail early this week. Please return the letter (one per family) with one of your children indicating you are interested and if you will be attending the meeting. Pizza and pop will be served at the meeting.

Our H-VAC work will begin on Friday. Two classes at a time will be displaced for three weeks at a time. I will be discussing this at the PTA meeting. Please do your best to attend Wednesday’s meeting. Zoom is an option as well. You are welcome to turn off your camera and mute your mic and listen while you make dinner or complete other things at home. Our PTA meetings are always informative and we welcome suggestions and encourage participation.

Other notes:

  • Our Lost & Found is filling up. If your child is missing anything please have them check in our box for their items. Parents are also welcome to check, as long as you sign-in at the office first.
  • Please do your best to notify the office early in the morning if you need to pick your child up early. Between 8:00-9:00 is best.
  • Thank you Mrs. Batha for organizing and running our school store. The store will take place every other Thursday. Students should not bring more than $10. and even that is quite a bit. Items cost between 0.25 and $3.00.

Thank you for everything you do for our kids and our school.

Have a great week!

Mary Timpf
