DuVall Penguin Project

On Monday, January 14th, the students in Mrs. Morrison and Ms. Cibasek’s class took part in a special project that involved Skyping with research scientist Jean Pennycook who lives several months out of the year in Antarctica studying Adelie penguins and the impact climate change has on their numbers and habits.  The 3rd graders were able to Skype with Jean in Antarctica and observe the penguins with their newly hatched  chicks. All the students at DuVall were able to make postcards and the PTA mailed them to Jean in Antarctica to display.  This project was made possible with the help of Mrs. Makled and Dearborn Tech Coach Mrs. Gwizdz allowing for a virtual field trip of the penguins in Antarctica.
